Earlier this month, a dozen South Australian artists took to the national stage at BIGSOUND – Australia’s largest music industry event championing the future of Australian music.

Held in Queensland’s Fortitude Valley, up-and-coming artists shared their talent at nightly showcases and networked with the industry’s leading figures during the daily conference.

The four-day event regularly hosts more than 1,700 conference delegates including major labels, agents, and established artists, with 120 performing acts and 16,000 showcase attendees.

Supported by the Music Development Office (MDO) in partnership with MusicSA, South Australia’s promising new talent Ella Ion, Divebar Youth, Sunsick Daisy and Purée performed as part of an exclusive ‘Made in SA Showcase’.

These artists were granted this special opportunity through their participation in the MDO’s Robert Stigwood Fellowship Program, a prestigious annual fellowship program providing mentorship and professional development to local musicians and industry entrepreneurs.

Other South Australians who performed as part of the official BIGSOUND Artist Lineup included Down and Out, George Alice, Heartline, Lumens, Marlon, The Tullamarines, Yung Maynie and Sonia Smith.

Each of these acts was supported through the MDO's National Contribution Showcase Fund, which helped to alleviate the burden of travel costs for SA acts who are selected for this coveted and potentially career-defining opportunity.
