Three South Australian music acts are among more than 300 global artists who’ve been selected to perform at one of the world’s most influential music events.

Ella Ion, The Tullamarines and Swapmeet will be showcasing their music on the international stage at SXSW in Austin, Texas this month.

With support from the Music Development Office’s Export Contribution Fund, delivered as part of an industry partnership with Sounds Australia, this opportunity allows these talented local acts to connect with industry leaders and international audiences at one of the world’s most influential music events.

All three of these artists are current and former recipients of the Music Development Office’s Robert Stigwood Fellowship Program, which provides grant funding, mentorship and professional development to local musicians and industry entrepreneurs.

Ella Ion had a big year in 2025 - performing in in front of the industry’s movers and shakers as part of the Made In Adelaide showcase at BIGSOUND and The Great Escape Festival and Green Man Festival in the UK – all before returning home for her Best New Artist and People's Choice Folk wins at the 2025 South Australian Music (SAM) Awards.

After a successful run at BIGSOUND in 2024, Swapmeet were awarded Best Release for their debut EP Oxalis and Best Song for their track Ceiling Fan at the 2024 SAM Awards, and it’s only been up from there. Just last month they were the first Australian artists to be signed to LA-based record label, Winspear.

The Tullamarines won People's Choice Pop Award at the 2023 SAM Awards and have played at festivals like Laneway Festival, Spin Off, Beyond the Valley, and New Year's Eve on the Hill and are supporting The Jungle Giants on their upcoming Australian tour in June.
