Adelaide-based composer and musician Rachel Bruerville has released her debut album Under the Fig Tree – Music for serenity, strength and joy, marking a significant milestone in her creative career.

Supported by CreateSA’s Arts and Culture Grants Program, Rachel brought together a stellar ensemble of South Australian and interstate collaborators to arrange, rehearse, record, mix, and master six original compositions for her debut album.

Violinists Belinda Gehlert and Emily Tulloch, violist Karen De Nardi, and sound engineer Jakub Gaudasinski joined forces with cellist Anna Pokorny and bassoonist Jack Schiller – both originally from Adelaide.

In December 2024, the group gathered at UKARIA for three days of intensive rehearsals and recording. Following post-production with Gaudasinski, the album was officially released on 25 July 2025 and is now available for purchase on Bandcamp and streaming across all major platforms.

This project exemplifies the vision of Create SA’s A Place to Create, nurturing new South Australian work, supporting sustainable careers, and growing audiences for our artists.
