With support from CreateSA, artist Marcel Hoogstad Hay brought Cosmic Topographies to life for two major solo exhibitions interstate.
Marcel Hoogstad Hay is a Tarndanya based artist working primarily with blown and cold‑worked glass. Drawing on traditional Venetian techniques, his work explores perception, scale, and the complex patterns that shape our understanding of space and movement.
Hoogstad Hay’s reflective, intricately patterned forms invite viewers to contemplate perception, movement and our place within the physical world. His work is held in private collections nationally and continues to be exhibited across Australia and abroad.
With support from CreateSA’s Arts and Culture Grants Program and working between JamFactory’s hot-glass facilities and his private studio, Hoogstad Hay produced bold, meticulously crafted blown‑glass sculptures that were professionally photographed, transported, and showcased interstate at Grainger Gallery (Canberra) in May 2025 and Sabbia Gallery (Sydney) in September 2025.
The exhibitions achieved strong public engagement, resulting in the sale of more than 12 works, new professional opportunities, and a lecture and demonstration at Sydney College of the Arts. This project significantly expanded his artistic practice, visibility, and connection with national audiences.
