South Australia will host a Healing Arts Week in 2027 in partnership with the Jameel Arts & Health Lab, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, as part a global initiative to highlight how arts, culture and creativity support health and wellbeing.

Earlier this year, Department of the Premier and Cabinet entered into an agreement to host Healing Arts Week in early 2027, as part a global initiative of activations, exhibitions, dialogues, and live events focused on the relationship between arts, culture and health.

Healing Arts Weeks have been held in major cultural centres, including London, New York, Barcelona, Paris, Jaipur and Singapore. Each edition brings together artists, health professionals, researchers and communities to share evidence, highlight best practice and examine how creative engagement can enhance physical, mental and social wellbeing.

South Australia’s state-wide, week‑long program will be open to the public and feature interactive workshops, exhibitions, concerts, cultural activities, research symposia and knowledge‑sharing sessions in both metropolitan and regional areas, with opportunities to participate in person and online. Events will explore the impact of multiple art forms on health, alongside new research and examples of arts‑in‑health innovation.
